The Story

of

Prism Family Medicine

As a first-generation college student and mother of three children, Dr. Rolynn understood the challenges of financial hardship while pursuing higher education. During her training, she also came to appreciate the importance of strong community support in times of struggle.

After matching with the ISU Family Medicine Residency, she pursued comphrensive primary care training, emphasizing trauma-informed approaches to care. She sought additional experience in caring for patiens with diverse backgrounds and health needs, and recognized opportunities to strengthen structured education in caring for patients across a broad range of clinical and psychosocial contexts.

Dr. Rolynn joined the faculty at ISU in 2022, teaching in multipled departments, contributing to curriculum development, and completing a faculty development fellowship with the University of Washington.

Unfortunately, in the Spring of 2024, Idaho Legislature passed HB668, banning government funding for certain services, leading to the closure of Pocatello’s only clinic providing gender affirming care which she previously managed.

However, just as in every storm, light can be refracted to form a rainbow, Dr. Rolynn’s energy has now been redirected into Prism Family Medicine. She is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered primary care in a professional environment that treats every individual with dignity and respect. Prism Family Medicine strives to serve members in the community from all backgrounds, focusing on clinical excellence, compassion, and contiuity of care.

Meet

Taylor Powell, RN

(She/her)

A proud Pocatello native, Taylor Powell is a registered nurse who graduated from Idaho State University in 2011 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. With over a decade of nursing experience, Taylor is passionate about cultivating inclusive community spaces where everyone has the opportunity to grow and thrive. She firmly believes that strong, healthy communities are built through intentional care and investment in the people and places that shape them. Taylor’s career reflects her dedication to fostering connections and empowering others, knowing that building community is essential to creating lasting impact in the Pocatello area.

After spending several years doing bedside nursing, Taylor’s global healthcare journey began during her Peace Corps service in Eswatini, Africa from 2016-2018 where she lived and led community health initiatives like a youth group for children living with HIV, a walking group for neighborhood matriarchs that paired exercise with health education, and a men’s wellness and HIV testing program. These experiences not only taught her about herself but also shaped her belief in “thinking globally and acting locally”—a philosophy she still applies to her life and career today.

After returning to Pocatello, Taylor began working in Southeast Idaho’s only gender affirmation clinic where she met and worked alongside Dr. Jessica Rolynn. The two quickly created a professional relationship and friendship founded on similar visions and values. When the clinic closed in 2024, the two dreamed of a medical practice where they could foster a community resource to provide high quality family medicine and a safe and affirming space for Pocatello’s vibrant LGBTQIA+ community. Taylor is happy to be able to put all of her efforts into Prism Family Medicine.
